Anna Abrahams (1963, Oslo) studied Film Science, Art History and Mass Communication at the University of Amsterdam. She has lectured and written articles on film and other art forms. Since 1989 she has focused on making independent films.
Jan Frederik Groot (1959) studied communication sciences at the University of Amsterdam. He then attended the audio-visual design department of the art school in Utrecht (HKU). Jan Frederik Groot worked from 1986 to 1989 for Wiederhall Architecture Publishers.
The Rongwrong Foundation is an initiative of Anna Abrahams and Jan Frederik Groot. The name, a result of'ecriture automatique', happens to coincide with the title of the magazine Rongwrong that appeared precisely once in the 191Os. Since 1989, Rongwrong has produced films about cultural and social subjects, publications on media and art theory and installations in which the audience is expected to play an active role.
