'TEXAS' IS AN ADJECTIVE
'Texas' is an Adjective is a collection of movies in collaboration with characters from the swampy bogs of her home in south central Texas. "Things really are bigger here," says the artist, "spiders the size of your hand, 300-pound feral hogs, water moccasins as big around as your leg." These digital videos show moments large and small: the flash flood that comes within feet of her back door, a bull giving a cow a spit bath, the seductive motion of an oil rig, a rattlesnake in mid-yawn. LaFayette's work in progress involves imaging with remote sensing systems such as ground penetrating radar, wireless video, and small scale, distributed motes.
