Eliza Barrios is interested in the various tangible and intangible elements that 'make up' a person - their subjectivity, their motivations, their 'internal belief system.' She looks at each factor and attempts to depict this system through various mediums to help inspire more questions than answers.
Barrios' works have been exhibited in various film festivals, galleries and New Media Festivals internationally and domestically, including the New Forms Festival (Vancouver, Canada), the Canal Street Project (New Orleans, LA), Museo Ng Maynila (Manila, Philippines) and the Turin International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival (Turin, Italy). Barrios received a Djerassi Resident Artists Program Honorary Fellowship (Media Arts/New Genre). She has received her BA and MFA degrees in Photography/Sculpture and has since gravitated toward video installation/ambients.
