Joon Soo Ha is a video artist, filmmaker, and graphic designer. His art practice includes diverse media such as painting, sculpture, graphics and video. His works combine abstract concepts of time and space within a cultural context, creating an intuitive metaphoric language. Joon Soo Ha’s works decipher the socio-cultural context by representing personal vision and symbolic images.
Joon Soo's works have screened widely. Awards include the Juror's Special Prize at the 2nd Seoul International Documentary Film Festival (Seoul, Korea), Gold Prize at the International Computer Art Competition (Beijing, China), Grand Prize at the Ssamzi Music Video Contest (Seoul, Korea), Jury Award at the 36th New York Exposition of Short Film and Video (New York), and he was a Golden Reel nominee at the VC FilmFest (LA). He is currently studying filmmaking in the US with the support of the Asian Cultural Council and a Fulbright scholarship.
He is also working on a feature-length documentary film about the Korean royal manuscripts pillaged by French army in 1866, the subject of negotiations between Korea and France since 1991.
