GRASSROOTS RISING
Grassroots Rising is a documentary about community-based labor organizing in the Asian Pacific American community in Los Angeles.  An antidote to model minority myths, this film tells the stories of modern day working families as they take control of their lives against the forces of globalization and exploitation, from the sweatshops at El Monte to the market workers striking against the Assi Market in Koreatown.  This project is produced by Visual Communications, with the extensive support of local Los Angeles labor organizations including Korean Immigrant Worker Advocates, Garment Worker Center, Pilipino Worker Center, and the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance.
